Delta Govt Fixes Jan 31 for Environmental Sanitation, Restricts Movement
The Delta State Government has announced that the Monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise for January 2026 will hold across the state on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with movement restricted between 7:00am and 10:00am.
In the special announcement, the government said “vehicular and human movement will be restricted” during the exercise period, urging residents to clean their surroundings to curb the spread of diseases.
Residents were advised to cut overgrown weeds, desilt drainages and keep their environment clean, while noting that it remains a civic duty for every resident to clean up to a 20-metre radius around their premises.
The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ejiro Jamani, alongside staff of the ministry and other relevant agencies, will monitor compliance across the state.
The government also warned that “those found not participating in the exercise will be prosecuted before the Mobile Magistrate Courts and fined accordingly.”
The Delta State Government urged all residents to participate actively in building a cleaner and healthier environment.
