Deaconess Oborevwori Urges Delta Women Leaders to Uphold Unity, Peace as Yuletide Celebrations Begin


The Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has called on women leaders across the state to sustain unity, peace, and active grassroots engagement as the Yuletide season begins and the state prepares for the year ahead.

She made the call on Monday, December 15, 2025, during the End-of-Year Party organised for wives of top government functionaries, held in Government House, Asaba.

The event brought together wives of non-sitting members of the 7th Assembly, wives of members of the 8th Assembly, commissioners’ wives, council chairmen’s wives, and party leaders’ wives.

In her remarks, Deaconess Oborevwori expressed deep gratitude to God and appreciated the women for their sacrifices, loyalty, commitment, and courage, describing the gathering as more than a social event but a celebration of unity, shared purpose, and strong bonds.

According to her, the women play critical roles at the frontline of engagement by nurturing relationships and strengthening the bond between leadership and the people, thereby sustaining political and governance structures even in challenging times.

She commended the women for their support for the Oborevwori administration and the MORE Agenda, noting that through their mobilisation and influence, the vision and message of the Governor have reached wards and communities across the state.

“You are not just supporters; you are influencers, organisers, and vision-shapers,” she said, acknowledging their contributions to community mobilisation and political awareness.

The First Lady also applauded the various empowerment and humanitarian initiatives carried out by the women in their respective communities, citing recent distribution of palliatives to over 300 persons in Osubi–Orereokpe by the wives of commissioners, led by Barrister Mrs. Oligida.

She further highlighted the distribution of food items to 2,800 persons across the 25 local government areas by council chairpersons, commending the Chairpersons’ Coordinator, Mrs. Ella Chukwuweike, for the gesture, which she described as honourable and memorable.

She further encouraged the women to stay humble, loyal, and supportive of their husbands, praying for peace in their homes and divine blessings in the coming year.

The event ended on a festive note, with the First Lady wishing the women a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, while urging them to enjoy the season in unity and peace.
