Borussia Dortmund Close in on Kauã Prates Signing from Cruzeiro

Borussia Dortmund are finalising the transfer of 17-year-old Brazilian left-back Kauã Prates from Cruzeiro, with the player currently in Germany for medical tests ahead of signing a long-term contract, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The deal is reportedly worth €12 million, including an initial €7 million fee plus €5 million in add-ons, with Prates set to officially join in June 2026. All documents are now in place.

Prates has impressed at Cruzeiro with his attacking and defensive balance from the left flank, and Dortmund see him as a key long-term talent for the squad. Cruzeiro will also retain bonus clauses and a share of any future transfer profit as part of the agreement.

“All documents are in place, and the medical is being completed today,” Fabrizio Romano confirmed.

This signing continues Borussia Dortmund’s strategy of investing in young South American talent to strengthen their squad for domestic and European competitions.
