Barcelona Gets Approval to Expand Camp Nou Capacity to 62,000
FC Barcelona has received official approval from the Barcelona City Council to expand the capacity of the Spotify Camp Nou stadium to about 62,000 spectators, marking a major step in the long-awaited reopening of the club’s iconic home.
The licence part of the Phase 1C renovation allows the club to reopen the Gol Norte (North Stand) and activate VIP spaces that were previously closed during ongoing reconstruction work. This increases the available seating from around 45,000 to approximately 62,652 fans.
Barça can take advantage of the expanded capacity starting with their upcoming La Liga match against Sevilla, giving more supporters the chance to watch live at the legendary stadium.
The expansion comes after years of delays in the renovation project, originally intended to coincide with the club’s 125th anniversary, and follows earlier phases that allowed limited fan attendance.
Work on the larger Espai Barça project, including future levels to bring capacity to over 105,000 and add a roof is expected to continue through 2027.
