Anti-Party Activities: PDP Warns Members Against Endorsing Tinubu for 2027

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to party members over acts of disloyalty, particularly the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 8, 2025, and signed by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC described such endorsements and public declarations of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as clear violations of the party’s constitution.

“Of serious concern is the persistent public media outbursts against our Party by some prominent members whose actions and utterances including their public declaration of support and willingness to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Presidential election… constitute a serious threat to the stability and sustenance of our Party,” the statement read.

Citing Section 10 (6) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), the NWC reminded members that no one is permitted to “align with other parties or groups to undermine the Party or any of its elected government.”

The party leadership warned that these anti-party activities are already causing internal division, disaffection, and a loss of members—an outcome that could damage the PDP’s electoral fortunes if left unchecked.

In response, the NWC invoked Section 59 (1) of the party’s constitution to issue a formal reprimand to those involved and threatened stiffer sanctions if the behavior continues.

“The NWC… issues a strong reprimand against such anti-party activities and cautions those involved to retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions as provided in the PDP Constitution.”

The statement concluded with a call for unity and loyalty, urging all members to stay committed to the PDP’s mission ahead of the party’s upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
