Anambra Governor Soludo Declares War on Crime, Says Native Doctors on the Run
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has declared that his administration is waging a comprehensive war against crime and moral decay, saying that “dreaded native doctors are now on the run” as part of efforts to restore discipline and integrity in the state.
Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Soludo said his government’s ongoing security operations and social reforms are aimed at rebuilding the moral foundation of Anambra society, anchored on enterprise, hard work, and honesty.
“We have gallant security forces, and our own Agunechemba are at work,” the governor said.
“Those people have been grossly decapitated, and to a level that for them to regroup anywhere near 10 percent of where they were when we arrived here is not possible. And we’re not done yet.”
Soludo explained that beyond physical security efforts, his administration is investing in technology-driven surveillance, community collaboration, and social reorientation to address the root causes of crime and moral decline.
“A new law is in place, and it’s not just the kinetic approach,” he said.
“We’re also having huge social reformation. That’s why you find that the dreadful and dreaded native doctors are on the run.”
According to the governor, the ongoing reforms are designed to steer citizens, especially youths, away from the growing reliance on “magical or ritual means” of making money.
“We’re trying to reorient our people that the only values acceptable here are those of enterprise, hard work, and integrity,” he added.
“It’s not to make money through magical means or any other unproductive path.”
Soludo’s remarks come as the state gears up for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, with his administration highlighting its record in security, technology, and social transformation as key achievements.
