We are Ready to Wrestle Power From PDP in Delta State – DPP Chairman


…Urge Nigerians to use their PVC in 2019.

As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), has advised Nigerians to prepare to use their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC), to vote in to power credible individuals irrespective of party inclination, so as to enjoy what its called ‘true democratic dividends’.

Mr. Okpegwa Ejiroghene Abel, the Delta State Chairman of DPP, who gave the charge during an interview with Journalists in Asaba, said the DPP is now ready to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state, noting that henceforth DPP will be a credible opposition party that will criticize the state government constructively and as well as proffer solutions.

The newly inaugurated chairman, while pledging that with the structure put in place by the party in the Delta State, its vision will now be translated into public good, adding that the party has come to shine in the state.

The Chairman regretted that the opposition parties in the state have not lived up to expectations in terms of check mating the excesses of the ruling party but only out to collect grants, assuring that DPP under his leadership will work with governor Okowa’s led administration, criticize it and proffer solutions on critical issues of governance.

Okpegwa said; “DPP now have new face and I want to beckon on Deltans to embrace the new leadership which I lead, I want to work with the state government to see how we can move Delta State forward, to see how the dividends of democracy can get to Deltans. DPP will perform opposition role creditably in terms of appraising the state government and proffer solutions so as Deltans can benefit maximally.”

According to the DPP Chairman, “Every government needs an opposition to succeed because no man is an island. With the DPP Chairmen in the three senatorial districts, the 25 LGA Chairmen coupled with the brand new state Executive under my leadership, the party is good to go. The kind of opposition DPP stand for is not to abuse the government but to challenge the government on the issues of development.”

He said DPP will wrestle power from the PDP in Delta state come 2019 so as to provide a structure that can work for the good of the people.

Hear him; “DPP will change the face of politics in Delta State, it will be a party in government that will touch the lives of people in grassroots, a party that will run a unity and open door policy. We will demonstrate to the people a government that works like the ATM machine, that is a structure that will enable subsequent governors after our tenure to have blue prints.”

He said DPP will field credible candidates in the 2019 general elections to be able to actualize its vision for the masses.

“DPP will field people of proven integrity, they must not be a career politician but a technocrats. People who can turn waste to wealth. I am calling on Nigerians not to sell their conscience, they have to vote for people who can turn things around, people who can think outside the box. They should go beyond party lines and look at the profiles of each candidates and vote accordingly.” He added.
