Peter Obi Will Return to PDP, ADC Will Soon Collapse – Ali Modu Sheriff
Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has cast doubts on the longevity of the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC), predicting its imminent collapse within the next three months.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Sheriff argued that the party, formed by key opposition figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former ministers, and ex-governors, is already showing signs of internal struggle due to competing presidential ambitions.
According to Sheriff, the coalition will unravel as each heavyweight in the party eyes the 2027 presidential ticket.
“This ADC that you’re talking about, I can tell you for free, give them three months, it will die down because all of them are presidential materials and only one of them can be a candidate,” he said.
Sheriff specifically mentioned Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, suggesting that the former Anambra governor is preparing to return to the PDP to pursue his 2027 ambition.
“Peter Obi ran under the Labour Party. His ambition is to become President. Information available to me is that any moment from now, Obi would go back to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the PDP,” he revealed.
Sheriff also downplayed the electoral influence of other key figures like Atiku and Rotimi Amaechi, stating, “Tell me, which states do they control?”
