‘Nigeria Is Blessed to Have You’ — Oborevwori Hails Oluremi Tinubu in Warri

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Thursday said Nigerians are blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady in Oluremi Tinubu, praising her commitment to the poor and vulnerable.

He spoke at a grand homecoming reception held in her honour at the palace of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, where a jubilant crowd gathered from early hours.

“We can all attest to how she stood firm during her time in the Senate. Nigerians are blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady who genuinely cares for the poor and vulnerable in our communities”, Oborevwori said.

The governor noted that the visit was her third to Delta in two years, recalling her flag-off of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Asaba and the Free to Shine programme, where 10,000 professional kits were distributed to midwives across the South-South.

He added: “That singular act of love and respect made a lot of things easier for me as governor. Even when we were in the opposition, she showed us love. God will continue to bless you.”

Reaffirming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said: “Please tell our leader, Mr. President, that Delta State stands firmly with him and his reforms for a better nation. You can always count on our support.”

In her remarks, Senator Tinubu described the reception as emotional and rooted in her Itsekiri heritage, urging unity across ethnic and religious lines. She announced a N50 million empowerment package for 1,000 women petty traders and pledged support for youths in partnership with the state government.

Dignitaries present included former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other top officials, as cultural displays and solidarity chants marked the colourful event.
