Tyson Fury Says Anthony Joshua Fight Is Off, Calls for Usyk Rematch
Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has claimed his proposed fight with Anthony Joshua is off and called on Oleksandr Usyk to agree to a third bout.
Fury made the announcement in a social media video on Sunday, September 6, amid ongoing uncertainty over the proposed Joshua fight.
“This will only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk. Oleksandr you’re his (Joshua’s) trainer and his sensei and you know he is weak-minded and that he would never fight the Gypsy King, which you have had the guts to do twice.
“You got the decisions last time, fair play to you. Good luck to you, let’s do it again. Let’s run it back in November.
“The ball is now in your court, do you want to fight me this year, 2026, or are you calling quits? Let me know because I am now looking for a new opponent.”
Fury also took a swipe at Joshua, saying, “AJ has shit his pants again, yet again.”
However, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has disputed Fury’s claim that the fight is off, insisting that a legally binding agreement remains in place.
“We have a signed legally binding contract to fight Tyson Fury and that’s exactly what we will be doing,” Hearn said.
The proposed Fury-Joshua fight has reportedly faced disagreements over the venue, with Wembley Stadium and Madison Square Garden among the locations discussed.
Fury has lost twice to Usyk, with the Ukrainian winning both encounters in 2024. Fury is now seeking a trilogy, but no third fight has been confirmed.
For now, Fury’s announcement has added fresh uncertainty to the long-awaited Joshua showdown.
