Fernandes’ Future Uncertain as United Wins in Hong Kong

Bruno Fernandes started for Manchester United in their friendly match against Hong Kong on Friday, despite rumors surrounding his future.

The Red Devils came from behind to win 3-1, thanks to a stellar performance from teenage substitute Chido Obi, who scored twice.

After being booed off in Malaysia on Wednesday, manager Ruben Amorim’s side were underwhelming in the first half, but Obi’s smart turn and finish five minutes after the break sparked a comeback.

He scored again with a glancing header on 82 minutes, and Ayden Heaven sealed the win with a late header.

Amorim, who took over from Erik ten Hag mid-season, has plenty to ponder during the post-season break, particularly regarding Fernandes’ future.

The Portugal international is reportedly considering a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. Fernandes had a bright first half, but went off before halftime.

Other regulars who started included Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund, while Alejandro Garnacho also featured despite rumors of a potential exit.

The Argentine winger caught the eye in the first half, but it was Hong Kong who took the lead in the 19th minute with their first attack, capitalizing on a mistake from United’s stand-in goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Fernandes had a chance to score when clean through, but opted for a Hollywood finish and was denied.

Amorim made wholesale changes at halftime, introducing Amad Diallo and Obi, while Garnacho and Fernandes made way, potentially for the final time in a United shirt.
