Ras Kimono’s Death, A Big Blow To Anoicha North – Council Boss


The Chairman, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Hon. Chuks Oseme has commiserated with the people of Onicha-Olona, family, music industry and friends of the reggae master, Ras Kimono who died in Lagos on Sunday at 60.

Hon. Oseme in his reaction over the passing away of Ras Kimono at the council headquarters in Issele-uku on Monday, described the deceased as reggae legend.

In a statement issued by the Media Assistant to the Chairman, Comrade Matthew Anazia, read that, the Aniocha North born Roba Dub master Mr Augustine Okeleke popularly known as Ras Kimono whose his songs entertained millions of Nigerians especially in the 80s, conveyed deep meanings even when they were pleasant to the ears.

The council boss noted that most of his songs like Under Pressure, Rum-Bar Stylee were very popular hits that passed revolutionary message.

“I was very shock when I received the news of his death. He is a great Reggae Master, a true son of Anoicha North who has showcased the council and his community to the world. On behalf of my family and the people of Aniocha North, I condole with his family and as well as the people of Onicha -Olona and the music industry. Is a big loss to us”

While calling on budding musicians to follow his likes that played music with passion, Oseme prayed for eternal repose of his soul.
