Mulade Commends Oborevwori’s Administration, Appeals for Riverine Infrastructural Revolution In 2026 Budget
Renowned peace and development advocate, Comrade (Dr.) Sheriff Mulade, has commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his administration’s remarkable infrastructural transformation across the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr. Mulade described the Oborevwori-led government as one that has “won the hearts of Deltans irrespective of political affiliation” through visible developmental projects and strategic investments in public infrastructure.
According to him, the ongoing construction of three major flyovers in Uvwie Local Government Area around the Warri axis by Julius Berger Plc, as well as the proposed Ughelli and Agbor flyovers, stands as clear evidence of the governor’s commitment to improving road networks and easing traffic congestion in key urban centers.
“Let me specifically appreciate the governor once again for using construction giant Julius Berger Plc for the three flyovers situated in Uvwie Local Government Area and the proposed Ughelli and Agbor flyovers to ease traffic flow in those areas,” he said.
Dr. Mulade also applauded the state government for the stormwater drainage projects and road constructions currently ongoing across the state, describing them as “an impressive demonstration of determination and dedication to the welfare of Deltans.”
The Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, however, appealed to Governor Oborevwori to extend similar infrastructural attention to riverine communities predominantly occupied by the Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities, stressing that these areas remain the backbone of Delta’s economy.
“It is pertinent to remind the governor that the Ijaw and Itsekiri areas contribute over 60 percent of the state’s economy through oil and gas resources and the blue economy. Yet, there are no significant projects in these areas worthy of note despite their huge contributions,” he lamented.
Dr. Mulade urged the governor to prioritize the Ayakoromo Bridge, Torugbene–Ojobo Road Project, and the Omadino–Okerenkoko–Kokodiagbene–Escravos Road in the forthcoming 2026 Delta State Budget, describing them as critical to unlocking the economic potential of the coastal regions.
“The riverine areas are tired of 1 or 2km concrete walkways in their communities regarded as roads. We need proper coastal linkages that will connect the riverine and upland areas for economic growth and social integration,” he emphasized.
While commending Governor Oborevwori for his achievements so far, Dr. Mulade appealed for the deployment of Julius Berger or other reputable construction firms to handle major riverine projects to ensure durability and long-term impact.
He added that doing so would “write the governor’s name in gold”, much like former Governor Chief James Ibori, who achieved the Bomadi and Omadino bridges, which successfully linked riverine areas to the upland parts of the state.
“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has done very well in terms of stormwater drainage and road projects. The same gesture should be extended to the economic sources of the state by investing in riverine infrastructure,” Dr. Mulade added.
He concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the Oborevwori administration’s MORE Agenda, expressing optimism that equitable development across both upland and riverine regions would strengthen unity, inclusion, and prosperity in Delta State.
