Group Support Reverend Waive’s Ambition For Federal House

Olomu Youths for Better Governance (OYBG), a political pressure group has called on electorates in Udu, Ughelli North/South Federal Constituency to vote for a credible and trusted candidate who will attract positive developmental projects to the area and have the interest of the masses and welfare at heart.

Arising from their inaugural meeting which held in Ughelli on Sunday, October 2, 2017, the president of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Okon disclosed that the aims and objectives of the group is to sensitized the masses especially the youths who are often deceived by the politicians with unfulfilled promises.

He noted that for so many years, our leaders have used us and dumped us but yet, some of the youths still fall prey to them because of Keke empowerment, Motorcycle or Grinding machine empowerment. Comrade Okon who expressed grave disappointment over the poor representation of the federal lawmakers maintained that, the lawmakers do not mean well for the people.

He said beginning from 1999 when democratic rule return to Nigeria, the Udu, Ughelli North/South Federal Constituency have not felt the impact of any of the representatives elected by masses, stating that the worst among them is the incumbent, Hon. Solomon Awhinawhim who is currently doing his second tenure but accused him of not doing anything at all.

Going down memory lane, the president of the group affirmed that, beginning from Chief Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo who represented the constituency in 1999 to Honourable Chris Oghenechovwen, then to Honourable Solomon Awhinawhin to Honourable Austin Ogbaburhon and again to Hon. Awhinawhim; no tangible development have come to the constituency especially the Olomu kingdom.

Comrade Emmanuel Okon who unequivocally lambasted and blamed Honourable Solomon Awhinawhin for his poor performance said; none of the above listed leaders deserved the vote of the masses in the constituency as they have enslaved the people and make them wallow in poverty.

He described them as saddist who do not want others to be good in life. He said OYBG is aimed at revealing to the youths the agendas this people whom he said have strategised how power will forever remain in their hands as they now replace themselves with their children. He challenged those who always say; ‘Am loyal or shualle’ to ask for the hand of their daughters in marriage and see their response. The vocal spoken leader accused most of the leaders of selfishness, greed and incompetency which he said is the sine qua non of poor representation.

He challenged all those who have represented the constituency to pinpoint one major achievements made during their tenure in office or dare come out to give account of stewardship of their leadership. He blamed them for empowering only touts and thugs whom they often used for ballot box snatching and rigging of elections. In his words; ” do you think these wicked people will win election if due process is followed, he asked.

He further disclosed that in 2019, they need God fearing persons to occupy leadership position in Nigeria, hence the choice of Rev. Francis Waive whom he described  as competent, honest, sincere and God fearing

The group urged all Olomu indigenes to throw their weight behind the servant of God and called on all leaders of thoughts in the three local government to ensure Rev. Waive mandate is given a nod so that the average man, woman and youth can benefit and have a feel of the federal government in the grassroot.

They however charged INEC to allow a level playing ground for all and warned parties not to impose candidates on the masses against their wish, stressing that the group is fully prepared for credible, free and fair election but avowed to resist any form of rigging in Olomu kingdom.
