Breaking News: Delta Records Second COVID-19 Death

A second death has been reported for a coronavirus patient in Delta State. It was gathered that the patient died on Saturday April 25, 2020.

Information of the dead victim is yet to be released but the infograhpics from the State Ministry of Information has shown an updated cases of the virus in the state.

Delta COVID-19 Cases

According to NIGER DELTA TODAY Online, the deceased presented himself at the isolation centre in Warri Central Hospital and was asked to go home after NCDC officials collected his sample against the rules.

It was learnt that upon receipt of the result, the State Taskforce on COVID-19 contacted the family of the deceased and they were told the patient had died.

Recall that confirmed cases of the deadly Coronavirus Disease, COVID-19 in Delta State had risen to Seven as at yesterday. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC confirmed this in its daily announcements of new cases.

Meanwhile, Delta Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday also announced the discharge of two coronavirus patients in the state who had tested negative.

He said, “It is my pleasure to announce the discharge of two of the five #COVID19 patients in our state.

“As we continue to monitor the recovery process of the other three active cases, I ask that you all continue to adhere to the precautionary measures and isolation directives we have put in place. Together, we will beat this.”

With this development, Delta State now has Three active cases, Two discharged and Two deaths.

Delta State recorded its index case of COVID-19 on April 7 and recorded its first death from the virus on April 9.
