Delta Govt Orders Registration of Mechanics, Vulcanizers From May 4
The Delta State Government has announced the commencement of a mandatory profiling exercise for transport-related artisans and tradesmen across the state, as part of efforts to improve regulation and boost revenue generation.
The directive, issued through the Directorate of Transport under the Ministry of Transport, affects automobile technicians, spray painters, spare parts dealers, upholsterers, vulcanizers, auto electricians, and other related operators.
According to the government, the exercise follows the approval for the extension of the appointment of Babsfield Corporate Ventures as the consultant responsible for carrying out the profiling process.
Authorities explained that the initiative is backed by the Delta State Internal Revenue Service Law, 2020 (No. 8), and is aimed at creating a comprehensive database of operators within the transport sector, while also enhancing internally generated revenue.
“Accordingly, Babsfield Corporate Ventures is empowered to profile auto mechanics and other related artisans on behalf of the Directorate of Transport to ensure compliance with established standards.”
The government made it clear that compliance is mandatory, warning that defaulters will face sanctions in line with existing laws and regulations.
“All affected individuals and groups are hereby required to comply with this directive as failure to comply will attract appropriate sanctions in accordance with existing laws and regulations.”
Full enforcement of the exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 4, 2026.
“The concerned artisans operating within the State are strongly advised to adhere strictly to the profiling guidelines to avoid penalties, sanctions, or disruptions during enforcement operations.”
Officials added that the exercise is part of broader efforts to promote safety, order, and efficiency within the transport sector in Delta State.
