The Ijaw leader of All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, High Chief Michael Johnny has faulted calls from certain persons demanding for the sack of the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote.
Johnny, a former APC Senatorial aspirant, Delta South district in 2019, told newsnen on Saturday, that those persons, particularly from the Niger Delta region championing the blackmail and agitating for sacking of Wabote, should have a rethink, and desist from such an ungodly act.
The Ijaw chief, said “we are still demanding for more federal appointments for our indigenes in Niger Delta region, and some persons are mischievously calling for the sack of an indigene of Niger Delta, Engr. Wabote over yet to be proven allegations. The Ijaws and Niger Delta people would not accept any sinister move to unjustly remove Wabote from office”.
The former chairman of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Council said, “I, Chief Michael Johnny, I have never met with Engr. Wabote and I have never had any dealings with him whatosover. However, but since no competent Court has found Wabote guilty, and no agency of crime has found him guilty as well, therefore, anyone or persons calling for the sack of Wabote are being mischevous and attempting to blackmail”.
Johnny, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva to ignore calls to sack Engr. Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, who is performing his duty, adding that every plot to distabilize the region must be rejected.
The Ijaw Activist, noted that Engr. Wabote should be allowed to do his job for which he was apointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, pointing out that Wabote is still innocent of whatever allegations being made against him.
It will be recalled that Engr. Simbi Wabote was accused of alleged non-disclosure of two existing foreign accounts, Bank of America and HSBC in his Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) form among others.
