The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole presidential and gubernatorial candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was unanimously adopted on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, during the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held at the APC Secretariat in Asaba under the leadership of the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Executive Committee and local government chairmen from all 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.
In his welcome address, Elder Sobotie urged party leaders to remain steadfast, disciplined, and united in strengthening the APC in the state under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori.
“Harmony and loyalty are essential for the party’s victory in future elections. Members must embrace reconciliation and inclusion across all levels of leadership,” Elder Sobotie said.
Discussions at the meeting focused on grassroots mobilization, healing internal divisions, and repositioning the APC as a dominant political force in Delta State.
Elder Sobotie also briefed members about the party’s forthcoming empowerment programme designed to bring relief and tangible benefits to party members and communities across the state.
The highlight of the meeting was the adoption of a resolution endorsing President Tinubu as APC’s sole presidential candidate in recognition of his visionary leadership, bold economic reforms, and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Similarly, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was endorsed as the APC’s sole governorship candidate for 2027, with members citing his “proven record of service, inclusive leadership, and dedication to good governance under the M.O.R.E Agenda.”
The motion for the resolution was moved by Chief Ubu Jiminyevwe Digbame, the State Assistant Auditor of the party, and seconded by Pastor Norbert Sochukwudinma, Chairman of APC in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
The endorsement was met with thunderous applause, reflecting the overwhelming support of the State Executive Committee for both leaders.
The meeting ended with prayers for unity, peace, and progress, led by Sir Joshua Kekeje, Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
In a subsequent statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the Delta APC reiterated its commitment to unity, discipline, and service, pledging to mobilize grassroots support that will secure resounding victory for the party in 2027.
