Ugbomah Tasks Parents and Youths in Ndokwa East to Desist from Human Trafficking


As part of the recent celebration of the “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons”, on July 30, 2018, a young entrepreneur, and an aspirant vying for the constituency seat of Ndokwa East in the Delta State House of Assembly, Engr. Philip Ugbomah, has called on parents, and youths from Ndokwa East to desist from engaging in any form of human trafficking, as it is against God’s law and those set by the international community.

Speaking in his office in Asaba, Engr. Ugbomah said that though, the social economic condition of the Nigerian environment may not be all that good, as it helps to create a crime environment, trafficking in persons in any form should not be a way out for us to leave economically.

“We cannot be helping evil to thrive by supporting any form of threat on our fellow men by selling them for income, in order to survive. This is bad, and we should not condole it, promote it or take part in it.”

According to him, to liberate the people of Nigeria, and especially the people of Ndokwa east from taking part, hiding those who engage in such act, or create route for easy transport of those been trafficked, Nigeria needs better representation, at the legislative houses, so that better laws can be made.

“To curb this increasing problem of trafficking in persons, a better representation is needed at our houses of assembly to churn out better laws for the society.”

Why pointing out that at present, there are no known cases about issue of trafficking on persons in Ndokwa east, the social and economic condition in the area, is a ripe ground for parents, friends, and relations to get engaged in such an evil act. He pointed out that if given the mandate, such laws that we protect the life and property of the people of Ndokwa East will be sponsored, that will assure them protection, better life, and against kidnappers.

“I therefore appeal to my good people of Ndokwa East, especially the delegates for the primary to send me to the Delta State House of Assembly, I will not disappoint you, as laws that will guarantee you protection against those who will come to convince you to trade your child, siblings and friends for some unknown benefits will be presented at the floor.”
