Torru Implores Students to Acquire Skills, Assures of Okowa’s Continuous Support to Education


The Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Hon. Tessy Torru has called on students to adopt a potential skill that would build their intellectual capacity as government alone cannot provide jobs for its citizenry.

Hon. Torru stated this when she visited Okpanam Mixed High Secondary School, Okpanam for an inspection tour to access the level of compliance with the resumption of school, checkmate the willingness and welfare of Teachers and the pupils for effectiveness, while commending the Teachers for turning out en mass and ready to teach.

Meanwhile Hon. Tessy Torru frowned and expressed disappointment over the low turn-out of students in the school that had about 1000 population with 121 in attendance for the day. She advised the students who were in the classroom to embrace a learning culture and their studies with all seriousness stressing that they should shy away from any form of criminal activities that would liquidate their future.

The Special Assistant further disclosed that the state government has maximum interest on the educational sector and that the government is doing everything humanly possible to actualize its campaign promise in delivering prosperity to all Deltans as encapsulated in its SMART Agenda.

Hon. Torru said that the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is doing everything within his capacity to provide conducive learning for students as education is very vital and key in its administration.

She commended the Governor for his swift response to re-positioning and revamping the vocational educational system in the state and also ensuring the completion of the new schools built in the the three senatorial district.
