Takeme Vows To Sustain PDP’s Dominance In Delta South


The new leadership of the Delta South chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has visited the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Solomon Funkekeme with a promise to build a stronger unity among party members in the senatorial district.

The Delta South Chairman of the Party, Chief Julius Takeme who led others to the office of the Senior Political Adviser in Asaba, said the focus is to ensure that PDP maintains its dominance in the senatorial district.

The Delta South PDP chairman, Chief Julius Takeme, said the party was solidly on ground in the senatorial district which accounted for the overwhelming victory recorded in the last election.

Chief Takeme, a former Commissioner for Urban Renewal during the first tenure of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa promised to build on the legacies of his predecessor in office.

He said Delta South remains a stronghold of the PDP and was not relenting in the dream of the state and national leadership of the party towards building better party structures from ward to national level.

While congratulating the Senior Political Adviser on his well deserved appointment, Chief Takeme said PDP in the district was already strategizing for the 2023 election and would record greater victory in the election.

The Delta south PDP chairman pleaded that party faithful in the district be appreciated for their role in the last election to encourage them to work harder for the 2023 election.

The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta state, Hon Funkekeme Solomon, charged Chief Takeme and his team to maintain the track record of victory for the PDP in the senatorial district.

Hon Solomon noted that Delta South PDP won all the seats contested in the last elections, describing it as a feat achieved through hard work and determination of party faithful in the district to propagate the ideals of the party and the giant strides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Senior Political Adviser said the ability of PDP stakeholders in Delta south to avoid the pitfalls of impunity and imposition of candidates which worked against the party at the national level in 2015, helped to boost the integrity and credibility of the party in the senatorial district, giving it an edge over the opposition.

He urged PDP members in the district to reach out to the grassroots ahead of the 2023 election to be able to win more members and consolidate the party’s victory in that part of the state, adding that the party should be united and focused at the unit, ward and local government levels of the senatorial district.

Hon Solomon assured party faithful in the senatorial district that Governor Okowa and the leadership of the party at the state level were appreciative of the role they played in the last election and would reward them accordingly.

The Senior Political Adviser, however, reminded them that it would not be possible to give appointment to all and urged them to be patient and continually supportive of the Okowa administration.

The Delta South PDP chairman, Chief Julius Takeme was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary of the party, Delta South, Mr. John Okorolotor, the State Treasurer of the Party, Mr Macaulay Deighan and the Chairmen of the party in the Eight Local governments areas of Delta South among others.
