Elozino’s Murder: Court Slams 8 Count Charges on Suspected Ritual Killers


Five of the suspected killers of Delta State University, DELSU Abraka student, Miss Elozino Ogege, were on Monday, December 17, 2018 arraigned before a Magistrate court sitting in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

The suspects were arraigned on Eight count charges before Chief Magistrate, Okonkwo Helen, according to charge no. CMA/509C/2018.

The five suspects who were all present at the court hearing, were thereafter remanded in Prison custody following a prayer by the prosecuting team led by Barr. F.N Aduma from the legal unit of the Delta state Police Command, sighting the sensitivity of the case.

Among the suspects was a female minor who aided the alleged killers in their sinister act. The five suspects are Enaike Onoriode 23, Nwosisi Benedict Uche 34, Macaulay Desmond Oghenemaro 32, Ojokojo Robinson Obajero 63 and Emese Odiri 16. They appeared before the court without any defence counsel.

One of the charges read, “That you, Enaike Onoriode ‘m’, Nwosisi Benedict Uche ‘m’, Macaulay Desmond Oghenemaro ‘m’, Emese Odiri ‘f’, Ojokojo Robinson Obajero ‘m’ and one Emese Emudiaga Kelvin ‘m’ – now deceased on or before the 15th day of November, 2018 at Abraka in the Abraka Magistrate District did unlawfully Murder one Elozino Joshualla Ogege ‘f’ by cutting her with a knife and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316(1) and punishable under Section 329(1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C 21, Vol, Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.

However, when the case was mentioned in the court, the presiding magistrate, Okonkwo Helen, assumed jurisdiction to entertain the matter as a result of the gravity of the offence.

Explaining that she would send the case file to the State Attorney General, Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Peter Mrakpor for advice. She adjourned the matter till 31st of December.

Counsel to the family of the deceased, Barr. Uche Efenudu who was contracted by Isoko Advancement Network (IAN), said he was satisfied with the remand proceedings at the Magistrate court and hinted that the Eight charges preferred against the suspects were capital offences which carry death penalties.

Miss Elozino Ogege who was a student of the Department of Mass Communication, Delta State University, Abraka was found dead with her tongue and breasts severed from her body.
